House Passes Repeal of Medical Device Tax

The House, on June 18, 2015, passed the Protect Medical Innovation Bill of 2015 (HR 160) by a vote of 280 to 140. The legislation would repeal the medical device excise tax, originally enacted as part of the revenue sources for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. No alternative revenue was provided by the bill, and the White House has issued a veto threat should the legislation also pass the Senate.
